Hola, fellow travelers! Are you ready to immerse yourself in the vibrant tapestry of Cartagena, Colombia? From its cobblestone streets to its azure coastlines, this city pulsates with history, culture, and endless charm. Join me as we craft an exhilarating five-day itinerary that’ll whisk you through the city’s historical treasures, culinary delights, and captivating landscapes.

Day 1: Dive into History

Morning: Begin your journey at the iconic Castillo San Felipe de Barajas, an imposing fortress with a storied past. Explore the maze-like tunnels and climb to the ramparts for breathtaking city views.

Afternoon: Dive deeper into history at the Museum of the Inquisition, where relics and tales from the Spanish Inquisition shed light on the city’s tumultuous past.

Evening: Indulge in a leisurely dinner at La Vitrola, a renowned restaurant exuding old-world charm. Try the traditional Colombian dishes while enjoying live music.

Day 2: Island Hopping Adventure

Morning: Embark on an island hopping tour to the Rosario Islands. Snorkel in crystalline waters, soak up the sun on white sandy beaches, and relish a seafood feast by the shore. You can rent your own boat ahead of time (a great option for boats) and rented boats are BYOB. Alternatively, there are a host of guided tour options if you’d like to tag along to a larger group.

Evening: Unwind from your boat adventures with a rooftop bar and light bites. I would highly recommend Mirador for the views and the vibes.

Day 3: Explore Getsemaní and the Old City

Morning: Wander through the bohemian neighborhood of Getsemaní. Admire the colorful street art, sip on freshly brewed Colombian coffee, and chat with locals.

Afternoon: Lose yourself in the labyrinth of streets in the Old City. Visit the Plaza Bolivar, explore the Cathedral, and browse through artisanal shops for souvenirs.

Evening: For dinner, head to Cevichería Trés Puertas for an unforgettable seafood experience.

Day 4: Day Trip to Nearby Town

Morning: Take a day trip to Palenque de San Basilio, the first free African town in the Americas. Spend some time meeting the locals, experiencing the cultural shows (dance, boxing), and tasting the food.

Evening: Return to Cartagena and dine at La Cevichería for a taste of their renowned ceviche.

Day 5: Unwind and Departure

Morning: Relax at Playa Blanca, a pristine beach with crystal-clear waters. Enjoy water sports, sunbathe, and savor fresh coconut water.

Afternoon:Head back to the city and spend your last hours at the San Pedro Claver Square, soaking in the atmosphere and picking up last-minute souvenirs.

Evening:Conclude your adventure with a farewell dinner at Carmen, a restaurant known for its fusion cuisine and elegant ambiance.
